  伊索被誉为"希腊寓言之父"、"西方寓言的开山鼻祖"。大约出生于公元前620-560年,他的寓言至今仍成为全球孩子道德教材的经典读本。其中许多故事,如《狐狸和葡萄》、《龟兔赛跑》、《北风和太阳》等成为世界儿童皆知的故事,并被选入中国小学语文课本。 伊索讲寓言故事全凭记忆,没有所谓的草稿,故事主角多是动物之间的互动,如鹰和夜莺、龟和兔、蚂蚁和蚱蜢等,也有人类与季节,亚里士多德的再传弟子、哲学家台美忒利阿斯编写了世界上第一部《伊索寓言》。在中国,也翻译成了众多版本。 Aesop was a Greek fabulist and storyteller credited with a number of fables now collectively known as Aesops Fables. Although his existence remains unclear and no writings by him survive, numerous tales credited to him were gathered across the centuries and in many languages in a storytelling tradition that continues to this day.Milo Winter (1888 -1956) was an American book illustrator. He created editions of Aesops Fables, Arabian Nights, Alice in Wonderland, A Christmas Carol, Gullivers Travels, Tanglewood Tales (1913), and others. Winter was born in Princeton, Illinois and trained at Chicagos School of the Art Institute. He lived in Chicago until the early 1950s, when he moved to New York City. From 1947 to 1949, he was the art editor of Childcraft books and from 1949, was the art editor in the film strip division of Silver Burdett Company.
